What to expect at each stage of your pregnancy

First Trimester (0-12 weeks)

First antenatal visit - confirm pregnancy, medical history
Blood tests: HIV, blood group, hemoglobin, syphilis
Dating ultrasound scan (8-12 weeks)
Nutritional counseling and folic acid supplementation
Education on danger signs and healthy pregnancy

Second Trimester (13-28 weeks)

Regular checkups every 4 weeks
Anomaly ultrasound scan (18-20 weeks)
Tetanus vaccination

Third Trimester (29-40 weeks)

Checkups every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then weekly
